Story

Once on a night beneath the shine of a million stars,

I sat beside a fire, s’mores in hand and the city afar.

What a wonderful sight there was up high;

The stars seemed so low in the sky.

It was soon I realized they were falling from space!

I expected a boom, a crash, something out of place!

When no crash came, I went off to explore

These mysterious falling stars that glowed on the floor.

A glowing yellow light invaded my vision,

And I felt my chest fill with indecision.

Do I stay, do I run, will I pay a price?

But I only came upon an odd paradise.

I pushed through pine needles, giant leaves, and lush flowers,

To find dancing, song, and tiny green beings with powers.

They laid back beneath a faux sun from their ship!

Had they landed on earth for just a fun trip?

One came my way, and I feared an attack,

But all he did was offer a snack!

Poolside with tropical drinks in hand,

I and these little aliens tanned.

I soon realized they weren’t so “alien” after all,

In fact, they just wanted a place to sprawl.

Listen to me, friend, if you will;

These alien folks, I believe they’re chill.
